Invisalign® is the invisible way to straighten your teeth without braces, using a series of clear removable aligners to straighten your teeth without metal wires or brackets. You wear each set of clear invisible aligners for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move - little by little, week by week - until they have straightened to the final position Dr. Atkinson has prescribed.

Dr. Atkinson is an Invisalign Certified Dentist, committed to providing the most comprehensive treatment plan for all of his Invisalign patients. Dr. Atkinson and select members of his staff have attended the required course of lectures and hands-on sessions specifically designed to provide his Dental Team with the clinical and operational confidence to successfully treat a wide range cases with Invisalign technology.

Is Invisalign for Me?

Invisalign can be used to treat the vast majority of common problems for adults and teens.
Whether your smile needs minor improvements or more extensive adjustments, Invisalign can certainly help. It's successful in treating overly crowded or widely spaced teeth. It can also relieve more complex issues, including overbites, underbites and even crossbites. In fact, an Invisalign Certified Orthodontist or Dentist can use Invisalign clear aligners in all or part of just about any treatment plan.

Made to fit your lifestyle, not change it.
Because Invisalign uses clear plastic aligners to position and straighten teeth, you can keep your active lifestyle during treatment. Unlike braces, Invisalign aligners have no metal bands or wires to irritate your mouth. So go ahead and be as active as you like. Since Invisalign is removable, just take the clear aligners out for special events or if you're going to indulge in a sticky, gooey snack.

Look your best during and after treatment.
Of course you want to look great, at work, at school, with friends. Maybe you speak to groups or conduct meetings. You still can. Because Invisalign is clear and nearly invisible, most people will never know you're straightening your teeth - unless you tell them. And when your course of treatment has ended, you can feel more confident, whether in front of people or not. You're going to have a stunning smile.

Invisalign FAQ's

Q: How Does Invisalign Work?

A: Dr. Atkinson will utilize 3D computer imaging technology to demonstrate your complete treatment plan from the initial position of your teeth to the final desired position. This imaging technology is then used to design an individualized series of custom-made aligners. You will wear the aligner for about two weeks while your teeth move incrementally. After two weeks, the current aligner is replaced with the next one until the final position is achieved.

Q: What do aligners look like?

A: Aligners are clear and nearly invisible, and are sometimes referred to as invisible braces, hidden braces, or clear braces. If you’ve ever seen clear tooth-whitening trays, that should give you a good idea what the aligners look like. Invisalign aligners are custom made to fit and move your teeth.

Q: Will the treatment be painful?

A: Each time you change to a new aligner, there may be some temporary discomfort while your teeth adjust to their new position. It is completely normal and is a good sign that the treatment is working.

Q: How long will I have to wear my Invisalign Aligners?

A: Total treatment time averages 9-15 months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case.

Q: How often will I have to see Dr. Atkinson?

A: You'll visit Dr. Atkinson about once every 6 weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned.

Q: Will wearing Invisalign Aligners affect my speech?

A: Some people are affected more than others, but most adjust in a short period of time to the feeling of the aligners and do not have permanent changes in their speech.

Q: How often will I have to wear my aligners?

A: Invisalign only works while you're wearing the aligners. It's recommended that you wear your aligners full-time, day and night, except to eat, brush and floss your teeth.

Q: Does Invisalign really work?

A: Yes. In orthodontic and dental practices nationwide, Invisalign has been proven effective at straightening teeth. Nine out of ten patients are "very satisfied" with their Invisalign experience. Click here to read Invisalign success stories.

Q: Does insurance cover Invisalign?

A: Any insurance plan that covers orthodontics should cover Invisalign. We will contact your insurance company to verify the coverage you will receive before treatment begins. That way you will know for sure what part your insurance will pay.

How Do I Get Started?

Once you decide to improve your smile, the rest is easy. Getting started with treatment couldn't be easier. The path to a more beautiful smile is simple and starts right here.

Step 1: Visit Dr. Steve Atkinson, an Invisalign Certified Dentist
During the initial visit, Dr. Atkinson will evaluate, assess and discuss the course of treatment with you. Dr. Atkinson's staff will take bite impressions of your teeth and will send these to Invisalign for processing.

Step 2: Invisalign makes your aligners
Invisalign uses advanced 3-D computer imaging technology to transform your bite impressions into a custom-made series of clear and removable aligners.

Step 3: You receive your clear aligners in a few weeks.
During your next visit to Atkinson Dental Clinic, you will receive your first set of clear aligners. Dr. Atkinson will most likely give you a few additional sets to wear before your next visit.

Step 4: You wear your aligners.
You'll wear each set of clear aligners day and night for about 2 weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. Patients, on average, complete treatment in approximately a year. You'll visit Dr. Atkinson at regular intervals to check your progress.

Step 5: You've finished treatment!
Congratulations! When you're finished wearing each clear aligner in the series, your treatment will be complete and you will have straighter teeth and the beautiful smile you deserve.
