Dr. Steve Atkinson

Dr. Atkinson has been in dentistry for 30 years. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Dental School in 1971 and set up practice in Rolla shortly thereafter. From the beginning, Dr. Atkinson's primary goal was to provide dental care that was as painless as possible.  As a child, Dr. had the same frightening, painful dental experience that many people have had. Those experiences were his inspiration for developing gentle, virtually painless dental techniques.

Dr. Atkinson and his wife, Holly, spent the early years of their marriage working together to make Atkinson Dental Clinic the success it is today. Holly is a Certified Dental Assistant as well as a Marketing Consultant. She worked both as Dr. Atkinson's chair-side assistant and his chief marketing coordinator before "retiring" in 1998 to pursue her career as a freelance writer and manager of the Atkinson's other business: Greenwood Farms.

Dr. Atkinson and Holly have two adult children: Julie is Dr. Atkinson's Personal Assistant and webmaster at Atkinson Dental Clinic and trains horses and does graphic design for Greenwood Farms. David works full-time on the farm, putting his skills as a woodworker and machinery specialist to good use helping to keep things running smoothly. David's wife, Kindra, is in charge of bookkeeping at Atkinson Dental Clinic and also helps manage the farm.

In their "copious spare time," Dr. Atkinson and his family also own and operate Greenwood Farms, home of Greenwood Farms Naturally Raised Meats and Dairy Products. The beef, lamb, chicken, turkey, and pork and dairy items produced on Greenwood Farms are raised 100% drug-free, on a natural diet of grass and hay (for the cows and sheep) and all natural grains and pasture for the poultry and pork. The other residents of Greenwood Farms include five Suffolk Draft horses that Dr. Atkinson uses to do farm work and pull a covered wagon for farm tours.
